Barça recorded their second draw of the season at home against Malaga in the Cup

-It was the first game of the five played so far in the Cup that Barça hasn’t won. At home, the team had only conceded one draw – in the league against Real Madrid.
- Barça had won the previous seven games in all competitions.
- The last time Barça drew the first leg of a Cup tie was in the 2010/11 season, against Athletic Club (0-0). They went through on away goals after drawing the second leg 1-1 in San Mamés.
- It’s the first time Barça has drawn a Cup tie first leg 2-2 under the away goals rule.
- A repeat of any of Barça’s last five league results in the Rosaleda (1-4 in 2008/09 and 2011/12, 0-2 in 2009/10 and 1-3 in 2010/11 and 2012 / 13) would classify them for the semi-finals.
- Barça enjoyed 70% possession, and completed 726 passes compared to Malaga’s 256.
- Thiago completed the most passes (97 out of 111).
- Puyol’s goal was the sixth time Barça has scored from a corner kick this season. It’s his second goal of the present campaign.
- Leo Messi has scored in the last seven consecutive games; against Malaga (2), Espanyol, Valladolid, Atletico Madrid, Cordoba and Betis.
- He’s also scored in his last 13 games when he’s featured in the starting line-up.
- Mascherano recovered the ball most times (18), followed by Alex Song (14).
