Geordan Murphy: Leicester full-back confirms retirement
Leicester Tigers captain Geordan Murphy has confirmed he will retire at the end of the season.
The 35-year-old former Ireland international full-back has spent the last 16 years at Welford Road and said earlier this season that he planned to end his playing career this summer.
Sixteen years as a Tiger
Murphy made his Leicester Tigers debut on 14 Nov 1997 against Rotherham and has appeared in four Heineken Cup finals and seven Premiership finals.
Murphy said it was the "right time" to quit but said he would stay with the club in a coaching role.
He played in seven Premiership-winning teams and four Heineken Cup finals.
Murphy, who also won 72 caps for Ireland, could yet bid farewell to Leicester with an eighth Premiership final appearance.
