Defore committed to Spurs
Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has rubbished speculation linking him with a move to QPR and wishes to remain at White Hart Lane for the remainder of his career.
Defoe has been in fine form for Spurs this season and is their leading scorer with 10 goals in all competitions. Yet rumours have circulated that the England international would be prepared to move across London to link up with Rangers boss Harry Redknapp, with whom he has worked under at West Ham, Portsmouth and Tottenham, once more.
"That's not going to happen. I'm not leaving Tottenham, I love the club and to score goals at a big club like this is fantastic," Defoe told Sky Sports News.
"If the opportunity comes to leave the club it won't be happening. I don't want to leave, I'm a Spurs player - and I'm happy.
"I think I can say I'd like to finish my career at Tottenham. I want to achieve something special here - it's a great time to be at the club."
Defoe's goals have been key this season as Tottenham push for Champions League football next year. A 2-1 win over Liverpool on Wednesday night helped them move up to fifth in the Barclays Premier League.
"I thought the performance last night was great. It was a massive win," Defoe said. "Character's key and the lads who've come in have been fantastic. To have a great team you need team spirit and we've definitely got that."
Manager Andre Villas-Boas is also slowly starting to turn the tide after struggling to win round Tottenham's fans following the summer dismissal of Redknapp.
The north London club have been frustratingly inconsistent this term and a fantastic win at Manchester United has been punctuated by defeats to rivals Chelsea and Arsenal. Yet Defoe believes it was always going to take time for Villas-Boas to implement his ideas and Spurs have won their last two matches since their defeat to the Gunners.
"It's difficult for any manager - when you come in you've got different ideas," added Defoe. "It wasn't the best at Chelsea but that happens. It's part of life and being a manager, but he's a fantastic manager and been fantastic for me."
