- ESPN said Musburger did not make what some interpret as another chauvinistic remark
- The game was Musburger's first since his comments on the looks of Miss Alabama in the BCS title game
In his first game back since his comments were interpreted as controversial in appraising the looks of Miss Alabama Katherine Webb during the BCS title game, ESPN's Brent Musburger on Monday night made what could be interpreted as a response to that flap.
Signing off after Kansas' college basketball victory against Baylor, Musburger referred to ESPN sideline reporter Holly Rowe and said something that sounded like, "For (analyst) Fran Fraschilla and Holly Rowe, who was really smokin' tonight."
ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz, asked for a reaction Tuesday, said that is not what Musburger said. Krulewitz said this was Musburger's signoff:
"For Fran Fraschilla and Holly Rowe, it was really smokin' tonight."
Asked for reaction that Musburger was leaving himself open, at the very least, to another misinterpretation, Krulewitz would not elaborate.
"We are moving on," Krulewitz said.

Responding to requests to speak to Musburger and Rowe, USA TODAY Sports again was told this was all ESPN would say on the matter.
ESPN previously had apologized for Musburger's on-air comments during the BCS title game about Webb, who is the girlfriend of winning Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron.
