George North: Given all clear
Wales winger George North did not suffered any serious neck damage during the Scarlet's RaboDirect Pro12 clash with Ulster on Friday, the Welsh Region have confirmed. North received six minutes of treatment on the pitch, after taking a knee to the head, and was stretchered off before being taken to hospital for an X-ray and scan. However, fears that the 20-year-old could have suffered a serious injury were eased on Saturday with the neither the X-ray nor scan showing significant damage. North, who has scored 11 tries in 26 internationals, will have to wait to discover when he can return to action but he looks likely to be fit for Wales' Six Nations opener against Ireland on 2 February. In a statement, the Scarlets said: "The results from the two scans showed that there was no significant or serious damage to his neck. "George travelled home with the rest of his Scarlets team-mates this morning on a flight from Belfast. "He will be assessed further by the Scarlets medical team on Monday. It is too early to assess the full extent of the injury or indeed the recovery period at this stage." North tweeted: "Thanks for all the messages. I'm ok, bit of a neck injury. Should be fine all precautionary! "Thanks to all the medical staff at raven hill. Both the Scarlets and Ulster medical teams were awesome.. Thanks again!"
