Richard Kahui: Move to Japan not received well by New Zealand coach
New Zealand coach Steve Hansen admits he is frustrated at Richard Kahui's decision to turn his back on the All Blacks. Kahui signed a deal with Japanese side Toshiba Brave Lupus last week, his decision made in part because of a series of shoulder injuries that he felt he could avoid in a less intense environment. The wing will leave Waikato at the end of the season and Hansen is unhappy that Kahui chose to announce the deal without telling him first, even though the player admitted he would like to return to New Zealand in time to try and earn a place in their 2015 World Cup squad. "We were very disappointed with that because he didn't really speak to us, or his agent didn't," Hansen said. "I always find that a bit frustrating. "Normally you hear from them, then you've got an opportunity to discuss it, and put a reasonable offer and if you want them to stay you've got an opportunity to fight to keep them. "In this case we didn't so that was a bit disappointing. But we've discussed that and moved on." Hansen would not be drawn on a comment Kahui made about team-mate Dan Carter who he claimed was also thinking about making the move to Japan.
