Messi and Deulofeu chasing 1st and 2nd division double

FOOTBALL

The Argentinian is the leading goalscorer in the first division with 37 goals

The B team player has 15 goals and is joint top scorer in the second division with Almeria’s Charles

Never before have Barcelona had the top goalscorers in both the top two divisions of Spanish football. But that might well happen this year if Leo Messi and Gerard Deulofeu continue scoring the way they are. With 37 goals (or 36 if you go by what Marca newspaper says) the Argentinian is well in command in the first division, while the Catalan from the town of Riudarenes is currently level pegging with Charles of Almeria in the chase to top the scoring in the second division. Both players have 15 goals.

Third Pichichi for Messi?

It’s nothing new for the four-time Balon d’Or winner. Leo Messi has already been the top goalscorer in la Liga in both 2009/10 and 2011/12, and last year set a new Liga record of 50 goals in one season, as well as equalling Gerd Müller’s world record of 91 goals in a calendar year. And he’s also been the top scorer in the last four editions of the Champions League.
