Edinburgh secure Western Force forward James Hilterbrand
Former Western Force forward James Hilterbrand has agreed a two-year contract with Edinburgh.
The Australia-born 24-year-old, who qualifies for Scotland through his grandparents, will sign subject to receiving a visa and passing a medical.
Hilterbrand has senior experience as a hooker and in both prop positions.
Edinburgh coach Alan Solomons said: "James's versatility will be very useful for us when you consider the attritional nature of the front-row."

Hilterbrand, who will arrive early next month, becomes the latest signing from southern hemisphere rugby since South African Solomons took over at Murrayfield this summer.
Loose-head Wicus Blaauw joined Edinburgh last week and Solomons said: "We now have more depth and better competition for places in our front-row, with our young Scottish props learning from experienced campaigners."
Hilterbrand represented all of South Australia's age-grade sides as well as the national under-18 team.
He then moved to Sydney to join Manly Marlins, with whom he spent five seasons gaining more competitive experience.
Hilterbrand won his first professional contract with Western Force this year, making two Super Rugby appearances and starting against the British and Irish Lions in June.
"I think this move is coming at the perfect time for me to learn from the best and keep progressing my footie," he said.
"I hope to bring a different rugby perspective because of my different pathway into professional rugby.
"I'll definitely bring a lot of energy and heaps of passion."
Hilterbrand's grandmother, Doris, came from Aberdeen, while grandfather William Bain, from Falkirk, played soccer for Aberdeen either side of the Second World War.
"Unfortunately, my grandparents have passed away now, but I know they'd both be very proud to see one of the grandsons living in Scotland and playing for one of the top club sides," he added.
