Eagles Down Romania in Final Test World Rugby Shop

The USA Eagles finished off their November test series with an emphatic 34-3 win over Romania in Bucharest on Saturday.  Chris Wyles led the way for the Eagles with 19 points.

The easy run of was not apparent from the start, however.  The home side easily worked their way through the U.S. defense but could not push over the try line and were forced to kick and settle for the 3-0 advantage.

But it was all Eagles from that point forward.  The side realized they were able to run on the Romanians and settled in to an open attack that paid dividends.  The half ended with the U.S. up 22-3.

The second half started with the Eagles not slowing down.  USA head coach Mike Tolkin made wholesale changes later in the half.

The only blemish on the game was the foul play at times with the home side.  Romania was fortunate to avoid several yellow cards that would have been justifiable.  Both sides eventually had a player, the Eagles John Quill and Romania’s Petru Tamba, red carded.  It was somewhat harsh for Quill and the U.S. after all the foul play they had played through.

On a positive note, Wyles’ second half conversion elevated him over the century mark for test points with 101 total.
