Eoin Reddan: Targeting win at Ravenhill on Friday
Leinster scrum-half Eoin Reddan has rubbished suggestions that the RaboDirect PRO12 is a viewed as a second-tier competition by Irish provinces. Huge importance has been placed on the Heineken Cup by Irish sides, with Leinster winning three of the last four titles and Ulster reaching last year's final. Leinster travel to Ravenhill to face Ulster on Friday and after suffering back-to-back Heineken Cup defeats against Clermont Auvergne, Reddan admits they are under pressure to return to winning ways. "RaboDirect games are massive for individuals in terms of getting selected for those bigger games," said the Ireland international. "We have a job to do this week. That job isn't to win, really, it is to do certain things that are asked of us, and those standards usually lead to victory. "We have a massive responsibility, the guys who take to the pitch this week, to be very accurate in everything we do and if the result comes with that then great. "But it's about getting the performance right and working on the specific things that we need to improve on." With their Heineken Cup hopes hanging by a thread, Reddan says Leinster are determined to end a run of three successive PRO12 final defeats and capture their domestic title. "Even if we had won at the weekend (against Clermont), it is still a massive goal of ours to win the Rabo," he insisted. "Maybe the fact we lost at the weekend puts a bit more pressure on us to perform this weekend, but even had we won last weekend this would still be a very important game for us."
