Demba Ba: Escape clause in his Newcastle contract but is unlikely to join Chelsea
Sky Sports sources understand Newcastle striker Demba Ba will not be moving to Chelsea in the January transfer window.
Ba has a £7m release clause in his Magpies contract which becomes active on Tuesday.
The former West Ham striker has been in impressive form this season and already has 13 goals to his name.
Ba has also been linked with Arsenal, Tottenham, QPR and French giants Paris Saint Germain.
It is understood that Ba's representatives held an 'unproductive' meeting with Chelsea on Sunday evening and he is now not expected to move to Stamford Bridge.
Speaking after the 2-1 win at Everton on Sunday, Rafa Benitez refused to confirm any interest in Ba, saying: "We don't talk about this business, we had a very important game today."
Ba's representatives are now expected to hold talks with other clubs as Newcastle boss Alan Pardew fights to keep the forward.
