Eric Dickerson doesn't want Adrian Peterson to break his 28-year-old record for most rushing yards in a single season.

NFL PLAYOFF PICTURE: How it looks right now

In an interview with Scott Hanson of the NFL Network, the Hall of Fame running back spoke of his respect for Peterson, but firmly stated his desire to maintain his record until he dies.

"I'm pulling for Adrian to stay healthy, win MVP and play the way he's playing," Dickerson said. "I do not want him to break my record. I'm not going to tell that lie."

I love that Dickerson wants to keep his record. Why wouldn't he? It's his connection to the game. It puts him in the spotlight every few years. It reminds young fans of who he was. And, as a bonus, it allows us to see those old pictures of Dickerson with jheri curl and rec specs.

Watch the clip of Dickerson's interview with Scott Hanson, if only for the rare circumstance of hearing someone tell an O.J. Simpson story that only involves football. (Dickerson broke Simpson's record when he set the mark in 1984.)
