Joe Cole rescued a point for West Ham after record-signing Loic Remy struck for QPR on his debut.

The visitors struck against the run of play when record-signing Remy latched on to an inch-perfect Adel Taarabt throughball to beat the offside trap and slot past Jussi Jaaskelainen.

West Ham may feel unlucky to have not been awarded a penalty at the other end when an industrious Marouane Chamakh was held by Clint Hill before going down under a Shaun Wright-Phillips challenge, but Howard Webb waved play on despite the protests.

The Hammers' equaliser came in the second half when Matt Jarvis, who was locked in a tasty battle with Nedum Onuoha all afternoon, fired in a cross towards the head of substitute Carlton Cole whose effort was parried into Cole's path for the much-deserved leveller and his first since his return to the club.
