Jol: Fulham need to strengthen
Fulham manager Martin Jol admits he needs to add reinforcements to his squad.
The Cottagers have struggled in recent weeks, winning just one game in their last six to drop to 13th in the Barclays Premier League table. Jol has been linked with moves for Tom Huddlestone, St Etienne's Banel Nicolita and Jores Okore of Nordsjælland as he attempts to inject some new life in to his squad.
He admits bringing players in to Craven Cottage before the transfer window shuts is a priority. Jol said: "We had a very good start to the season. We had a settled team before but I think we are a bit unsettled now. We are the only team in the Premier League who have not found their feet in general."
He continued: "If you look at Wigan, they have a settled team. They bought two or three players in the first week of January and we haven't got that. We don't have a lot of money to spend."
Fulham's poor form means it would not be too much of a surprise to see the Londoners lose to npower Championship side Blackpool in Tuesday night's FA Cup third-round replay at Bloomfield Road.
The Tangerines would already be in the fourth round had it not been for a superb late equaliser from Giorgos Karagounis in the initial tie nine days ago.
A win would boost morale in Jol's squad, but he admits his priority remains the league, so he will rest a number of a key players for the fixture, which comes four days before the Cottagers travel to champions Manchester City.
Jol also knows that even if Fulham overcome Blackpool, they will then have to get past Manchester United to make it through to the fifth round.
"I was really happy to go to Blackpool and then I saw the draw," Jol said. "I try to play the best team all the time and I feel we need to change the team for Blackpool to give players like (Dimitar) Berbatov, who have played all the matches, a rest.
"But I have to make a decision on that because I still feel, under the circumstances, it is very important to stay in the FA Cup. It is always nice to have an extra opportunity to stay in this wonderful competition."
