Ah, the fights.

Tuesday night's heated exchange during the St. John's vs. Notre Dame game reminded us that college basketball can get crazier than buzzer-beaters and court-storming.

With less than two minutes remaining in the Big East clash, St. John's Sir'Dominic Pointer threw a lunging punch at Notre Dame's Cameron Biedscheid, evoking a brief skirmish to take place. Notre Dame cruised for a 24-point victory.

Over the years, we've seen plenty of fights, brawls and confrontations that resonate in NCAA history. Here's a look at some of the best from recent memory (aka the YouTube era):

For starters, Honorable Mention has to go to Brittney Griner for this haymaker.

5. Wyoming vs. New Mexico (2007):

They don't call the Lobos' arena The Pit for nothing. New Mexico's Jamaal Smith and Wyoming's Brandon Ewing and Brad Jones were ejected after this brawl that saw an official get completely bulldozed.

4. Mississippi State/Mississippi State (December, 2010):

In basketball, chemistry can be everything. MSU was clearly lacking it in 2010 when sophomore Renardo Sidney, fresh off a suspension, got into a tussle with teammate Elgin Bailey, leading to a fight with several punches and the two players going into the stands before teammates separated them.

3. Georgetown/China (2011):

The Hoyas' exhibition game against the Bayi Military Rockets was marred by a chair-throwing melee that left a black mark on Georgetown's international summer tour.

2. Cincinnati/Xavier (2011):

Cincinnati's Sean Kilpatrick trash talk was the match that started the flame, saying Xavier's Tu Holloway couldn't start if he played for the Bearcats. Cincinnati's Yancy Gates's boxing poses were perhaps the scariest scene in one memorable, bloodied scene.

1. Ohio State/Minnesota (1972):

One name: Corky Romano Corky Taylor. Ohio State's Luke Witte hard on a breakaway before Minnesota's Taylor went to help him up to his feet. Except he didn't. Instead he gave Witte a nice knee to the groin. Police escorted players off the court, but not before another Gophers player stomped on a defenseless Witte's head. Minnesota's Dave Winfield also threw some punches, knocking out an OSU player. Witte had to spend the night in a ICU unit, and two other players joined him at the hospital.
