Trevor Nyakane: Prop dropped for trip to Argentina
South Africa have dropped Cheetahs prop Trevor Nyakane from their squad to travel to Argentina for repeated breaches of team protocol.
Nyakane made his Test debut against Italy in June but did not make the cut for a place in their final 23 against the Pumas on Saturday, a game the Springboks won 73-13.
His place in the squad has been taken by Lourens Adriaanse, while scrum-half Piet van Zyl has also been added in favour of Fourie du Preez, who is not available for overseas games in the Rugby Championship.
Chiliboy Ralepelle, who injured his back during a gym session on Saturday morning, will miss the tour, with Marcell Coetzee included in his place, and there is a call for scrum-half Jano Vermaak as well.
"We were only able to finalise the touring squad after the Test against Argentina at Soccer City on Saturday, as we had to assess the injury situation," said coach Heyneke Meyer.
"We are allowed to travel with only 26 players and it was difficult to leave out a few of our squad members.
"The players that stay behind will benefit from game time in the Currie Cup and will certainly be in the selection frame when we select the squad for the squad to Brisbane and Auckland."
