Jussi Jaaskelainen pulled off three superb saves to earn West Ham a 0-0 draw with Southampton at St Mary's on Sunday.

The Hammers made the brighter start to the game and Mohamed Diame had the first chance, powering past Luke Shaw and stinging Artur Boruc's hands with a close-range strike which was well saved by the Saints keeper.

That was the busiest Boruc was on a damp afternoon, where Jaaskelainen made the first of his three outstanding saves on 11 minutes, when he somehow diverted Daniel Osvaldo's goalbound strike over the bar.

Diame was in the action again on 33 when Morgan Schneiderlin got away with a crunching tackle on the Hammers midfielder.

And Schneiderlin had his head in hands on 67 minutes when he connected perfectly with a cross from Jay Rodriguez, only to see Jaaskelainen dive to his left for a one-handed stop.

The hat-trick of saves came on 72 when the Irons keeper pulled off a more routine save to keep Rickie Lambert's right-footed shot out of the net.

But James Collins wasted arguably the best chance of the game on 84, when Mark Noble pulled the ball back to the Welsh centre-back, only to see him lean back and steer a right-footed shot high over the crossbar.
