Toby Flood is carried off the pitch after suffering a head injury against Ulster last weekend
Toby Flood has been ruled out of Leicester's opening Aviva Premiership match of the season this weekend after suffering a head injury during a pre-season friendly.
The Tigers' fly-half will miss the visit of Worcester to Welford Road on Sunday with concussion after being the victim of a high tackle during a match against Ulster.
The 28-year-old England international underwent tests and scans at Leicester Royal Infirmary which confirmed no further damage.
However, the club were advised not to risk Flood against Worcester and the club's rugby director Richard Cockerill told the Leicester Mercury: "We will stand him down for this weekend because of medical advice.
"We will integrate him back into rugby next week, and he may well play against Bath (on September 14).
"If not, certainly against Newcastle the following weekend.
"He was concussed, but there are no broken bones and all the scans are clear, so that's all good." Source : http://www1.skysports.com/rugby-union/news/12552/8906065/premiership-injured-toby-flood-misses-leicesters-opening-fixture
