Maloney back to boost Latics

Wigan should be boosted by the return of winger Shaun Maloney when they welcome Ipswich on Sunday.

The Scotland international did not make the trip to Belgium for the 0-0 draw with Zulte-Waregem as he was rested but he is expected to return to action against Mick McCarthy's men.

Owen Coyle made seven changes to his side for the Europa League trip and Ben Watson and Leon Barnett look set to return to the starting line up while Marc Antoine Fortune will hope for a recall.

Striker Grant Holt is still out with a knee injury and he is joined in the treatment room by Ali Al Habsi (shoulder), Gary Caldwell (hip) and Ivan Ramis (knee).

Ipswich winger Paul Anderson will be assessed ahead of the clash.

Anderson missed the midweek victory over Yeovil with a groin injury and will be checked over ahead of the clash at the DW Stadium.

Daryl Murphy was recalled in place of Frank Nouble for the 2-1 success over the Glovers - one of two changes with Town boss McCarthy having previously kept faith with an unchanged side for back-to-back games - and he is expected to keep his place having found the net.

Tyrone Mings continues his recovery from a knee injury and misses out.
