As Tim Tebow seems to fall even further on the New York Jets depth chart -- Browning Nagle just passed him, I believe -- he has drawn more wrath from ESPN analysts. The latest, of course, was Merril Hoge, who was distracted long enough from crafting enormous knots for his neckties to say Tebow was "as phony as a three-dollar bill," then trolled the unnamed and non-existent Denver Broncos fans still longing for His presence over Peyton Manning. Now Tebow is getting support from an unlikely, scruffy source.

Transformers actor Josh Duhamel played Optimus Prime to Hoge's Megatron this week, ripping the ESPN analyst after one of his anti-Tebow tweets.

Hoge wrote: "Any bronco fan still think they would be better with Tebow? I've not heard much noise lately? Curious??"

The only thing curious about that tweet was its use of question marks.

Duhamel responded: "hey merril. Josh Duhamel here. Wondering why you're such a jealous [expletive] about Tebow? He's 10x the player you were."

Oh man, I wish Duhamel starred in You Got Served so I could make the easy You Got Served reference. (It doesn't work as well with credits like Ramona and Beezus.) But, hoo boy; Mr. Fergie just burned you, Merril Hoge.

He deserves it too, and not just because we all know three-dollar bills exist.

Why can't people at ESPN take a Swiss stance on Tebow and be neutral? You don't have to love him or hate him. He's not cilantro.

Most people say "enough!" but I find they're the ones who eat it up the most. (Case in point: The people who complain the most about the Pro Bowl were the same people talking about Wednesday's Pro Bowl selections as if they actually mattered.)

Me? I want to see how far down the Hollywood/Bristol wormhole this Tebow argument can go. B-list ESPN analyst criticizes Tebow, B-list actor steps in to defend. Will it eventually get to the point where the gaffer from The Hobbit will be ripping a production assistant from Dan LeBatard is Highly Questionable for making an anti-Tim graphic? It's too exciting to even consider.
