(Photo: Bill Kostroun, AP) Might this end the back-and-forth between former Detroit Lions teammates Lomas Brown and Scott Mitchell? Brown was on ESPN2's First Take this morning, responding to the controversy that has surrounded him since he said on ESPN Radio last week that he purposely missed a block in 1994 in order to get Mitchell hurt. BROWN CONFESSION: Lineman says he tried to get Mitchell hurt Mitchell responded Wednesday by calling Brown "reprehensible." MITCHELL RESPONSE: Former Lions QB unhappy with Brown Brown said this morning he "regrets" the incident that happened in 1994 and that he hopes to talk to Mitchell about it soon. He said he will reach out to Mitchell. And he said he thinks he was a good teammate to Mitchell. Somewhat cryptically, Brown also said, "Scott knows a lot of things that went on, too, in Detroit." More layers to the onion? Here's more of what Brown said this morning: "I know I played well over 18,000 plays … in this league. It's one play out of the 18,000 that I regret. It's done, it's out there. I'm not going to retract, I'm not going to sit here and make excuses. I know America is looking at me, and they're like, 'Wow,' but I'm not going to make excuses. "You get frustrated during the course of the game. You do things that, a lot of the time, you think about later in life -- you don't think about right there, because it's in the heat of the moment. … "The one thing I can say is I should have been more tactful at how I said that. That was wrong on my part. I should have humbly said that. It came off as boastful. I shouldn't have said it that way." Story Highlights
