Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho had no complaints about his side's defeat to Borussia Dortmund admitting the Germans deserved their 4-1 success
Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho had no complaints about his side's defeat to Borussia Dortmund admitting the Germans deserved their 4-1 success.
Robert Lewandowski scored all four goals for Dortmund to leave them in pole position to reach next month's final at Wembley.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored what could prove to be a crucial away goal for Real, but Mourinho conceded Dortmund were better than his side all over the pitch.
"I think they were the best team by far," Mourinho told Sky Sports HD2. On every individual battle on the pitch they were stronger than us, they were more aggressive physically, they were more aggressive mentally so I think they deserve.
"How did it go from 1-1 to 4-1? I really don't know. It was everything happened in a very short space of time in far goal from position where I was, but it looks for me again that we lost easy possession, easy possession and we couldn't cope with their counter attack and with their transition."

Mourinho admits he was disappointed they could not contain Lewandowski after doing his homework on the Polish striker.
"And when we know everything, absolutely everything about Lewandowski, we know everything about him, we study him from every detail possible and we lose him in three goals
"I don't speak about the penalty, three goals where we know exactly what he does is of course very disappointing but when I lose and I don't deserve to lose for me is a drama, but when I lose and I deserved to lose for me it is situation I accept.
Asked if they could have done more to stop Lewandowski Mourinho said: "Of course we could. The first goal we lost the ball in easy possession and after that we lost the player and when we know they make crosses from the left side with the right foot to second post where he comes we know that all the time his movement in the box for rebounds for second balls to attack first we know everything about him.
"So of course the boy deserves credit for what he did but we gave him a big support for him to be man of the match."
Mourinho felt some of his stars failed to perform against Dortmund as they were overrun by the German side.
"You know we prepare the game so well in every detail, as we do always, but especially in semi-final we prepare everything.
"We were ready for everything, we were very confident about the work we did I think many of the boys didn't perform many of the boys didn't have a good night and it is exactly when you cannot make mistakes because at club level this is the second most important match of the world of football - the first one is the Champions League final the second is the Champions League semi-final
"So when you don't perform in a very special day it is very disappointing."
Mourinho is refusing to give up hope of reaching the final and believes they can overturn the 4-1 deficit if they played to their highest capabilities in the second leg next week.
"We can (go through) it's difficult of course very difficult, but we can in football anything can happen.
"Of course in a crazy night when everyone performs at a high level where every chance you have every goal you score with a high level of efficiency of course we can."
