Richard Cockerill: Ban brought forward but Leicester are not impressed with RFU
Leicester remain 'disappointed' with the RFU despite having the nine-game ban imposed on head coach Richard Cockerill brought forward.
The former England hooker was initially banned until 3 November for using words that were "obscene, inappropriate and unprofessional" during the Aviva Premiership final on 25 May but is now able to return on 18 October following a successful appeal.
The decision means the suspension will now include pre-season friendlies against Jersey and Ulster and will conclude after a Heineken Cup clash with Treviso.
A Leicester statement read: "We are pleased that the judgement vindicated our decision to appeal and we are grateful to the panel for the consideration that they showed, although we await with interest the written judgement to see why they pre-season game against Montpellier falls into a different than those against Jersey and Ulster.
"We remain disappointed with the RFU's conduct in this matter but, as we have previously stated, this is a matter we shall pursue privately.
