Charlie Austin's move from Burnley to Premier League new boys Hull City is off after the striker failed a medical.
Hull boss Steve Bruce has made Austin one of his top transfer targets this summer and has been chasing him for several weeks.
A fee had been agreed between the two clubs but Austin has now failed his medical, with his shoulder - which he has dislocated three times since 2010 - reportedly the issue.
The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in the country since being plucked from non-league football by Swindon four years ago, scoring 82 goals in 155 games for Swindon and Burnley.
Asked if the deal had collapsed, Bruce told talkSPORT: "Unfortunately, it looks like it.
"There has been a bit of a problem with his medical, which is the worst scenario for everybody concerned, and more so the boy.
"It's an awful, awful, awful situation to find ourselves in, but unfortunately the medical is not great, so it looks as if it is a non-starter at the moment."

"It's an awful, awful, awful situation to find ourselves in, but unfortunately the medical is not great, so it looks as if it is a non-starter at the moment.
"I think he is surprised because he has not really missed any games over the last couple of years.
"It is a blow for him and it's a blow for us, but there you go. These medicals are so stringent, things have progressed with scans and all the rest of it and obviously he has got a problem."
In a statement Burnley said: "Charlie Austin will not be joining Hull City after unforeseen complications halted a proposed move to the KC Stadium.
"Austin, 24, remains a Burnley player and the club will make no further comment at his time."
Austin has just 12 months remaining on his current deal and, with no indication that he will sign a new deal, Burnley had been forced to try to cash in on him.
The collapse of the transfer has provided Bruce with further frustration in his efforts to add extra firepower to his squad following Hull's promotion to the top flight and he has previously seen a bid for Celtic striker Gary Hooper rejected.
The likes of Swansea's Luke Moore, West Bromwich Albion's Peter Odemwingie and South African forward Katlego Mphela have also been linked with moves to the KC Stadium.
The Tigers have so far signed Maynor Figueroa, Curtis Davies and Allan McGregor in addition to securing permanent deals for George Boyd and Ahmed Elmohamady.
