Florida Gulf Coast dunked and danced all over San Diego State

It's a shame Bill Raftery called Saturday's games in Auburn Hills, because the man behind "send it in, Jerome!" would have been in heaven calling the Florida Gulf Coast dunk-a-thon in Philadelphia.

GAME STORY: Florida Gulf Coast's historic run continues

The 15th-seeded Eagles were back at it on Sunday against San Diego State, flying high above the rim like they were characters in the original NBA Jam. This one is Eric McKnight going high for the alley-oop.

ESPN ran an excellent 30 for 30 last week about N.C. State's improbable run to the 1983 national championship. It was a highlight-heavy film, which was a delight for old-school hoopheads like myself. Watching the clips from that era, particularly ones of Houston's high-flyers like Clyde Drexler, Akeem Olajuwon and Benny Anders Benny, made you pine for the days when the game was played with flair above the rim.

FGCU isn't nearly on the level of Phi Slamma Jamma, of course, but the Eagles aren't doing bad in the rush period.
