Ronan O'Gara: The veteran fly-half has made 128 appearances for Ireland
Ronan O'Gara has been omitted from Ireland's 32-man squad for the RBS Six Nations clash with France.
The experienced fly-half, who turns 36 next week, is his country's most capped player having made 128 appearances.
However, he has paid the price for his indifferent form of late, including a patchy display as a replacement against England in round two of the tournament.
He was then overlooked in favour of Paddy Jackson to replace the injured Jonathan Sexton for the fixture with Scotland last time out.
Although the British and Irish Lion still came off the bench in the second half of the 12-8 defeat at Murrayfield, national coach Declan Kidney has decided to leave him out entirely for the upcoming game at the Aviva Stadium.
Sexton, who remains a major doubt to feature against the French, Jackson and Ian Madigan are the three fly-half options selected by Kidney.
Ulster's Jackson won his first cap against the Scots and struggled with his goal-kicking while Madigan, who plys his trade with Leinster, has yet to feature for Ireland.
Locks Mike McCarthy and Donnacha Ryan and wing Craig Gilroy are included in the extended party despite struggling with injuries. Darren Cave and Robbie Henshaw, however, both miss out due to concussion.
